Dr. Cantu is a renowned neurosurgeon and endocrinologist specializing in concussions and traumatic brain injuries. Dr. Cantu pioneered the NFL’s on-the-­field assessment of concussions and return to play requirements. He also served as an expert witness in the recent NFL concussion legal cases. The effect that Vasper has on those who have sustained head injuries will be studied under Dr. Cantu’s Institutional Review Board-approved study in February of 2015 when the Cantu Concussion Center has been completed.

Janet is currently the director of Rehabilitation at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Additionally she is the Lead Specialist of PTA Services in the Academic Affairs Department at the American Physical Therapy Association. She earned a bachelor of science in physical therapy, an advanced masters in musculoskeletal physical therapy, a masters in education at the University of Pittsburgh, and her doctor of physical therapy from MGI Institute of Health Professions. Previously, she was Director/Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s PTA Program and Director of Rehab Services at Northwest Medical Center (now UPMC Northwest). She provides vestibular physical therapy services in Kailua Kona, Hawaii and other west Big Island communities. Her current research projects are in the area of PTA education.

After promising results from preliminary cardiac rehabilitation studies on recent coronary bypass and heart transplant recipients, Dr. Gladden is studying Vasper’s effect on cardiac rehab under an Institutional Review Board-approved study, which will show results in the summer of 2015. Dr. Gladden founded Advanced heart Care and is currently the acting President & Managing Partner. Advanced Heart Care has ten locations that serve patients throughout Texas and southern Oklahoma.

After completing her MPH she joined the University of San Francisco (UCSF) faculty in the Division of Ambulatory and Community Medicine in 1968. She was the Director of Rehabilitation at Pacific Medical Center and Children's Hospital and then completed her PhD in 1985. She joined the faculty in the Curriculum of Physical Therapy in 1985 and served as Chair until 2008. She has received numerous awards becoming a Catherine Worthingham Fellow and receiving the Lucy Blair Service Award from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Charles Magistro Award for Outstanding Service, the Royce B. Noland Award of Merit, and the outstanding Research Presentation Award from the California Chapter of the APTA. Dr. Byl currently provides specialty lectures in the academic program and provides patient care in the UCSF PT Health and Wellness Center.
